Rate of senior citizens in retirement homes?

Does anyone know the rate of senior citizens that are in retirement homes from the year 1950 to today? I would really appreciate it!

1. no, but i live in one today and they are 230 seniors in this building.
2. I don't know an official rate, but most of the seniors I know are in nursing homes. Only a handful are in retirement homes. Those that can care for themselves usually stay in their old house (if it's paid for). A few live with family... only a very few. ;-(
