Investing, do you believe that retirement homes, nursing homes, pharmaceuticals, and funeral homes ?

do you believe that retirement homes, nursing homes, pharmaceuticals, and funeral homes would be good stocks to own. I mean the baby boomer's are retiring, they will most likely go to nursing homes by the thousands, and pass away around the same time as well. What would be good stocks for the small investor? Thanks in advance for all who answer... Chuck P, what about services such as retirement communities and such?

  1. Yes, that is a good idea. Sounds harsh, but millions are already in the nursing homes, and more will go in every year due to the medical proffession keeping people alive waaaaay longer than is neccesary, and the baby boomer thing too.
  2. If you do you will lose a lot of money, unless you plan on keeping it there for the next 30 or 40 years before you realize a profit. Most boomer's aren't going to retirement homes. Haven't you seen Dennis Hoppers commercials, this isn't your average generation, they went to the moon, changed the world as we know it. They aren't going to retire to a nursing home. Look into adult communities and medical tech, stocks. Your on the right track, but most will out live you so don't count your money too soon.
  3. I think that travel, recreation and retirement communities particularly around college towns and cultural areas will do well for the next couple of decades. People are living longer and healthier and Boomers have a lot of money to spend.
  4. not really you are missing one KEY element. The 08 election. If the commies get their way and put their QUEEN in health care as we know it will be DESTROYED! (among other things) Plus a lot of "baby boomers" do not trust retirement/nursing homes and I really don't know of any funeral homes that are publicy traded. look elsewhere
