  1. well i dont know about ten but the best place to live in retirement is BHUTAN its just so wonderful lifes refreshing and it just goes on
  2. Having not approached retirement age and not know what you might like to do in retirement, I thought I'd just throw a few cool ideas out there that I like to spend time near. Scottsdale, Az - A suburb of the Phoenix area and common retirement location. Nearly never a cloud in the sky, save the monsoon season in early fall/late summer. Temperatures get SCORCHING during the summer days but is ideal during colder months if you like your fun in the sun. Mountains, Grand Canyon, and Mexico all within 3 hours driving time. San Diego, CA - Again, sunny almost year round! My brother visits me in the midwest from there on occasion and completely freaks out in thunderstorms because he literally never sees them. Of course you might get an occasional earthquake...no place is perfect. Can't beat having a beach near by. Year round temperatures from 50-78 as a high. Mexico, LA, Vegas, and Sequoia redwood forest all within 5ish hours drive. Colorado Springs, CO - Beautiful Mountains and forest recreation in a small town feel with big town advantages. Only a couple hours from Denver and just a few more to Rio Grande National Forest and Taos, NM. If the outdoors and a little cooler temperature is your thing, this is place is beautiful, friendly, and quiet. Sonoma County, CA - Wine country and San Francisco. The Russian River meets rocky shores of the Pacific and the Northern Redwoods start to be dominant in the mountain forests. Lots of culture and great food & drink! Springfield, MO - ONe of the most inexpensive places to live in a growing community (200,000+) that holds on to its small town roots. KC, St. Louis and Tulsa all 3 hours or less and its centered in the US enough to make for easy travel to any part of the country with a welcome atmosphere to come home too. There's a few places that had a good "feel" to them when I had a chance to visit the east coast, but I'm not sure I know enough about them to give a good description, but thought I'd list them all the same: Boston, Mass - A neat big city with a great accent! Long Island, NY - for my girlfriend, shes just too fond of it to be all bad! Really though, ocean side on all ends and a few stone throws away from the Big Apple. Can even catch some wine country to the east. Florida? Not been but it seems a common place....personally I think its too crime ridden and overrun by hurricanes for me So, theres 8ish, think I'll leave it at that....happy retirement!!!!
