What benefits do US House member get for retirement?

I've done about a dozen searches in various places and I can't find out what a US Representative makes when their retire? What it takes for them to qualify for retirement benefits? With the present approval of congress at less than 20% I am wondering just what they get when they leave Congress. I already knew what Richard said. But how many years must they serve and how much are their retirement checks?

  1. Retirement benefits for members of Congress (House and Senate) are based upon the number of years served. This means that they get a whopping amount of cash and other side benefits including health care insurance for life.
