Retirement Place Reviews

How do I go about finding retirement communities in Mexico?

Is living there for Americans really more economical? Any details about what it's like would be appreciated.

  1. The laws are very differant and I would not attempt to direct anyone on this topic as I have read of so many properties being taken away after investment. I would be certain that I had someone with first hand long term awareness. Good luck as it is beautiful and I enjoyed the people.
  2. I would never retire outside the US. Go on prolonged vacations, but keep a home here.
  3. I don't know how you'd go about getting that info, but I'm sure you won't have trouble finding any, as they're probably all vacant anyway. They're retiring here. LOL
  4. stay in america. why do you think so many immigrants come here. this is the best place to live. if your just looking for a nice area to retire at . . . try santa monica, ca. its really nice && they have great weather yr round. its like being on vacation lol :) good luck!
  5. Here are some sites. http://www.mexperience.com/retirement/ http://www.peoplesguide.com/1pages/retire/1moveindex.html http://www.solutionsabroad.com/a_wheretoretire_inmexico.asp http://www.maztravel.com/maz/retire.html http://money.cnn.com/2006/02/13/real_estate/acapulco_alternatives/ And there is more. Many have to do this becaus of the outrageous cost of living in the States.
  6. The Pacific side of Baja California is popular with retirees. However, its not the bargain lifestyle here that it once was. Utilities are high, taxes are getting higher. Proximity to the US border is a plus but border waiting times are painful. Its best to visit places you are considering, ask around and then decide. Its still cheaper than the US but not much.
