Can you live in an apartment for the rest of your life and never own a home?
I don't think I will ever have the luxury of owning a home simply because I don't make enough money. My question is, is there anybody who has been renting for a long time? Can you get through life somewhat happily in this type of living situation? I'm not one who is in need of a lot of luxuries, I'm a simple guy :D I'm able to save some money every month in hopes that when I get old and can't work anymore I will have enough money to support myself throughout my retirement.

- When you find the answer, let me know! I've been living in an apartment for five years and everyone has kept hounding me to buy a home and that I am wasting money. I personally like living in an apartment because theres no real obligation and a house note is just an inch of our my budget without being able to live comfortably.
- Look at it this way. No taxes to worry about, there is always someone to pay for the repairs...the landlord. I love it..I have never been in a home...I love apartments. I can't take the added expense of taxes especially here in Jersey. The taxes are through the roof. Rent is high as well but I have a roommate and have a great landlord. No big deal. I am very happy. And Safe!!
- Some people are not fans of renting or living in an apartment. But, I always liked the idea of living in an apartment. I am not sure why. I guess I like the small, cozy quarters of an apartment. And some apartments are really nice- with great amenities - like a gym, pool, etc (and you aren't in charge of the upkeep!) Some are conveniently near great shops, etc. I don't know, but I always wanted to live in an apartment. And look forward to having my own one day. As long as you are happy, then I would not fret. But, if you do want a home, start saving a certain amount of money each month for your home.
- you sure can , all i have to look at is my dad , never owned a home
- Some people rent forever. Nothing to worry about. -w-
- I'm originally from New York City, and my parents (and most of my friend's parents) lived in one or two apartments for their entire adult lives. Many people never own a home--particularly if they live in large cities. The whole shame of this is--if people had bought homes years ago (when they were far more affordable), their mortgages would be paid in full--they would have paid far less over the years than a renter. Additionally, they'd have an investment in their home--and would probably make a huge profit when they sold--or passed down to their children.
- If you value saving money more than having a house, then you can be happy that way. Think about the debt. Now, think about freedom from debt. The idea of having money left over every month sounds great. Personally, I can get through life happily by obeying God, and He advised that we use money wisely. Not many people can afford a house, and we all have different circumstances, so really no one can answer this without knowing the details. I would suggest the following verses, for guidance, if Christians are reading this. Proverbs 22:7, Romans 13:8, Deuteronomy 28:1,2,12 I have not found anything in the Bible that encourages home ownership over renting.
